For now, Konan has decided NOT to move to Windows 11 for a number of reasons.
Many years ago, we begin deploying Windows LTSC instead of the common Professional version found on most business PCs.
We are currently installing Windows LTSC 2021 IoT on all specular microscope computers. This version is supported until January 13, 2032 - well beyond the end of life for Windows 11.
if your system is still running Windows 10 Pro that has reached end of support (or an earlier version, like Windows 7), please reach out to our support team to find out what options you may have to keep your computer system up to date with the latest security updates, ensuring stability and compliance with HIIPA and the latest IT security policies.
If your current computer is less than 4 years old, we may be able to upgrade it at nominal costs (vs. purchasing a replacement computer).
We generally recommend replacing computers every six to eight years.
The LTSC upgrade DOES require your computer to be shipped to Konan's repair depot, but we typically turn these upgrades around within 1-2 business days, limiting any downtime. The use of a loaner computer during this time is not typically available due to the quick turnaround, but we may be able to make exceptions for certain circumstances (at additional cost).
Shipping transit times are obviously outside of Konan's control but expedited shipping options are availabe if you would like to use Konan's shipping account - just ask for a quote!
We HIGHLY recommend having Konan perform the ugprade, instead of your local IT team, as our systems are specially configured and optimized to ensure the best experience possible.
